Learning Style Evaluation
Evaluate your online student-ability
Online courses are different from traditional classroom courses. In taking an online course, you must be prepared to:
- Work independently.
- Commit yourself to the learning experience.
- Participate in the enriching experiences of online discussions, via e-mail and chat.
- Be familiar with the expectations of the course and know how to get feedback on your work.
- Network with the others in the course; peer interaction is key.
The following questions will help you to assess your preparedness for online learning. Once you click on an answer, you will receive immediate feedback on your response.
- How much time per week would you have to do course work?
- Will your lifestyle (your job, family and other daily commitments) allow you to work on course work?
- Do you learn best by reading and writing or by listening to presentations and talking?
- When taking any kind of course, do you find that you are a self-directed learner?
- You are able to meet deadlines.
- You are comfortable with technology.
- You are comfortable communicating with others online (e-mail, chatting, etc.)
- You have previously sent or received documents as e-mail attachments.
- You have an Internet Service Provider (ISP) as well as the necessary hardware and software.
- You are interested in an online course because campus is too far away from your home.
